Jon Anderson, YES, and Consciousness Music = part 1 of a series

Jon Anderson = April 2007, originally uploaded by drandrewcolyer.

On Tuesday night, I had the pleasure of seeing Jon Anderson at The Chance Theatre in Poughkeepsie, NY.

He was performing the music of YES with Paul Green’s School of Rock All-Stars.

Jon has had a message of love, light, and higher consciousness throughout his career.

Many are aware of the positive and uplifting spiritual messages in his musical works.

“I wrote . . . ‘The Buddha Song’ . . . which talks about Buddha, Mohammed, Krishna, and Jesus.  The song’s message is the same as those I wrote for the first Yes album:  that people should embrace the idea that we are all one.”  –Guitar Player magazine, September 2006.

For those of you who do not know, Dr. David Hawkins is a medical doctor and spiritual teacher who has integrated over 50 years of psychiatric experience with every known spiritual tradition and quantum physics.

Using the clinical science of kinesiology (muscle testing), he has established a scientifically proven logarithmic Consciousness Scale of zero to 1000.  On the evolutionary scale, bacteria calibrate at one, and Jesus, Buddha, and Krisha calibrate at 1000.

Levels of spiritual Truth can be assessed, using the Scale of Consciousness, for anything you can think of.  People, books, food, animals, teachings, governments, art, architecture, and music.

The reason that Yes music has stood the test of time is because most of it calibrates in the 400’s; that is to say, it is excellent music with a high degree of integrity and positive energy.

Calibration level 500 is where the shift from the linear to the non-linear takes place; it is where love begins.  From what Jon said on the Yes Symphonic Live DVD, and the liner notes on his Tour of the Universe DVD, it’s obvious that the message of Love is important to him.

Two Yes songs that stand out as calibrating above 500 are “Awaken” and “In the Presence Of.”

I had the pleasure of meeting Jon and talking to him after the concert.

He is a gracious man, and a lovely human being.

We are all grateful to have him here on this planet spreading the message of love and light through his music .

Look for more posts regarding Jon Anderson and the music of YES.

Thank you.

Robert Randolph = “Positive” Rock-Blues-Funk

If you are looking for some get-down, funky, bluesy, rock, but don’t really care for some of the negative lyrics, messages, or lifestyles of much of the popular music out there today, check out Robert Randolph and The Family Band’s latest CD, “Colorblind”.

Coming from a gospel background (a House of God church in New Jersey), Robert wanted to make music that combined elements of R&B, blues, funk, and rock, yet still maintain the integrity of the gospel/church background. “I’m trying to create a new field and a new style that’ll influence some kids to go, ‘wow, I can be Black and be from the inner city and I don’t have to be a rapper,’” he says.

Some of the songs from this album are entitled, “Angels”, “Blessed”, “Love Is The Only Way”, and “Thankful ‘N Thoughtful”, as well as a blistering version of the Byrds’ “Jesus is Just Alright With Me,” featuring Randolph and Eric Clapton – who became a close friend and mentor to the younger artist when they toured together – in a blazing guitar battle recorded live in the studio.

On Dr. David Hawkins’ logarithmic Consciousness Scale of zero to 1000, the album “Colorblind” overall calibrates at 270. The track that calibrates the highest (at 290) is track 6, “Stronger”. The track that calibrates the lowest is track 11 (at 257), “Homecoming.”

This music won’t take you to Enlightenment, but if you are looking for music with Integrity = some “positive” blues-rock-funk-gospel that you can clean your house to, jam with, or have a party and dance, Robert Randolph is your man.

You can go immediately to Amazon and purchase your own copy to share with your friends, family, and loved ones by clicking on this link for Robert Randolph and The Family Band = Colorblind.

Thank you.

Pat Metheny, Brad Mehldau, and Consciousness Music

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing the Pat Metheny and Brad Mehldau quartet, in Poughkeepsie at the Bardavon Opera House.

It is always a pleasure to see and hear two great improvisers working together. They played as a duo, and with the quartet.

The concert ranged from quiet, intimate, ballads, to funky grooves, to bossa nova, to burnin’ tunes.

Of course, there were also the signature “Pat Metheny” sounding tunes = which are difficult to describe in words, but instantly recognizable when you hear them.

All of the songs were original works, from Pat and Brad both collectively and individually.

Bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jeff Ballard also contributed outstanding performances.

Everyone had fabulous technical skill = I remember thinking, “I would love to see a PET scan or functional MRI of these guys’ brains right now!” It is truly amazing to see artists and performers like this = channeling whatever comes through.

On Dr. David Hawkins’ logarithmic Consciousness Scale of zero to 1000, the concert overall calibrated at 468. That is the level of Excellence.

From a consciousness standpoint, the highlight of the evening was a Pat Metheny piece, playing his Pikasso guitar, entitled “The Sound of Water.” It was a duet with Brad on piano, from their recent release, Metheny Mehldau Quartet. “The Sound of Water” performance from last night calibrated at 494.

Considering the overall level of consciousness of mankind is currently at 205 (as per Dr. Hawkins, August 2006), last night’s performance benefits the entire population of humanity. To be specific, by Metheny Mehldau Quartet being fully who they are, and expressing themselves in this way, approximately 94% of the population of humanity was benefitted from this performance = by virtue of the power of the field of consciousness that was expressed.

For further information, here are some sites to check out: Pat Metheny Home Page, Pat Metheny Wiki page, Brad Mehldau Home Page, Brad Mehldau Wiki page.

Thank you.

The Five People You Meet In Heaven = An Absolute Must-See!

Even though this website is primarily devoted to music, which includes movie soundtracks, occasionally we come across movies that are so moving and powerful that we absolutely must write about and recommend them to you.

On Dr. David Hawkins’ logarithmic Consciousness Scale of zero to 1000, this movie The Five People You Meet In Heaven, calibrates at 511.
That is the nonlinear domain of love.

This movie is about life, love, compassion, forgiveness, humility, spirituality, consciousness, and just plain-old trying to make sense out of things that appear senseless in our sometimes mundane, earthly life.

The Five People You Meet In Heaven is an absolute must-see. I read the book a few years ago, and when Melanie and I went into the video rental store yesterday (as part of our Relationship Day–Free From Work Day), as soon as I saw this DVD cover sitting on the shelf = I made a beeline straight for it and said, “We have to watch this movie!”

It’s interesting . . . as I was walking into the store, I was thinking, wouldn’t it be great if we could find a really uplifting, inspirational movie . . .

This was the very first thing that my eyes saw when I walked in the door.

See how the Law of Attraction works?

“Like Energy Attracts Like Energy.”

You can go immediately to Amazon and purchase your own copy to share with your friends, family, and loved ones by clicking on this link for The Five People You Meet In Heaven.

Thank you.
