Following Tom Kenyon’s five day Sound Healing Intensive Training, I had the pleasure of sitting down with music and sound healing artist Nadama, producer and co-owner of Malimba records. 

Nadama and I had actually worked together in one of our Sound Healing groups during the training.  He has a nice voice, and I could tell that he was a trained musician.

When we sat down Sunday afternoon following the training, we talked for over an hour, and I wish I had recorded the conversation.  Neither one of us knew we would have such a great connection!

Nadama founded the Malimba record label with Shastro after a chance meeting in India.  "We had both been to this Ashram in the past, but on separate occasions.  Shastro was in the music area playing, and I just went in to check out the keyboard.  The next you know, we were both playing along with each other!  So we actually met through the language of music before we even knew each other’s names."

Nadama and Shastro had such a great connection, Nadama moved to Hawaii, and they started the record label.  That was eight years ago.  Now Nadama has six albums/CD’s and they have 27 total albums on the Malimba label.

With regards to Consciousness Music, it’s obvious that Nadama has the intention of producing music that is not only relaxing for the listener, but also beneficial and uplifting.  "People sometimes say, ‘Oh, that’s elevator music’, and I say, ‘yes, it’s elevating’.

"Regarding the music that I create, I like to imagine it as a space where people can connect with their hearts and disappear more into the sounds - a space where the listener can relax into his being and experience his own love and inner silence."

With titles such as "Healing Touch", "Love Is", "Reiki Offering", "Zen Notes", and "Yoga World", Nadama is really putting himself out there and making a statement with his music.  From being in this man’s presence, one can sense that this isn’t just marketing hype to sell more records; Nadama is a man of honesty and integrity, and comes from his heart.

"Enjoyment is no longer the criteria" when writing, creating, and producing a record, says Nadama.  Intention behind what is being created is now just as important.  "Most musicians aren’t thinking.  It’s just about their personal expression." 

"Now, music can be more intentional, and can be created, produced, and used as a tool for transformation.  It can deepen our own personal meditation and experience." 

With regards to Music and Sound Healing, Nadama says, "the whole subject of healing is emerging.  The healing world is exploding.  It’s about balance between the masculine and the feminine; they are both needed.  There’s a big need for balance with music also."

Consciousness Calibration Research Technique:  on Dr. David Hawkins’ logarithmic Consciousness Scale of zero to 1000, Nadama’s body of work at Malimba records calibrates at 498. This is the level of Excellence, and has an extremely high degree of Spiritual Integrity.

Considering the overall level of consciousness of mankind is currently at 205 (as per Dr. Hawkins, August 2006), Nadama’s body of work at Malimba records benefits the entire population of humanity. To be specific, by Nadama being fully who he is, and expressing himself in this way, approximately 96% of the population of humanity benefits from his records/albums/CD’s = by virtue of the power of the field of consciousness that is being expressed.
