Kenny Werner Guest Post = “Thoughts with a Tooth Brush”

Kenny Werner, originally uploaded by drandrewcolyer.

Thoughts with a tooth brush.

I was talking to an atheist recently who was sure there is no God in this universe.
I had never had this thought before, but I realized that
knowing there is no God is perhaps as foolish as knowing there is one.
The fact is we can’t know.

I thought I heard it put best in the movie, "What The Bleep Do We Know?"
One of the points of the movie is to observe how close science and mysticism have become.
Many physicists were interviewed and in this "post-Quantum" era they are making declarations that are more and more in alignment with what the ascetic poets and yogis said a thousand years ago.

Towards the end [of the movie] one physicist said "We have about as much chance of understanding God as a fish has of understanding the ocean he’s swimming in."
Boy, that hit me like an anvil!
Of course!
How could finite beings understand the infinite?
How could one drop of an ocean conceive of the entire ocean?

Ah, but one drop of ocean can merge with the ocean.
It can do nothing else.
We can not understand the God we speak of, but we can merge with Him/Her/It.

This is the incredible aspect of being human.
All other animals are naturally aligned with nature, and play their part.
Humans have the intellect and choice of whether to merge with that ocean we call God, or be a single drop, left alone to evaporate.

But that wasn’t really the point of my story.

While brushing my teeth (when most of my good ideas occur), it occurred to me that the avowed atheist I was talking to would be in total harmony with certain spiritual paths.

In the path of Yoga, a great being, Swami Muktananda has told his disciples, "Meditate on your own self. Worship your own self. God dwells in you as you."

I suddenly realized that the atheists’ claim that there is no god, just us, is in agreement with the statement "God dwells in you as you."

I guess the only difference is that if we know we are God, if we worship at the temple of our body and our mind, if we worship at the alter deep inside our soul, we will bloom into our full potential as loving, creative beings.

Mo Tzu, The Declaration of Independence, and Peace

“To love everyone results in the greatest benefit to oneself and to others.” –Mozi (Mo Tzu)

Mozi (Mo Tzu) (c. 470–c.391 B.C.) was born just after the lifetime of Confucius, and was a contemporary of Socrates.

“The heart of Mozi’s teaching is benevolence, an active willing of the good for others. The impulse to seek the good for one’s own parents and children ought to be extended to all parents and children. The natural identification with one’s own community ought to be expanded to other cities and states.” –Great Thinkers of The Eastern World, Ian McGreal, editor.

“The Will of Heaven is the absolute norm for all humanity and this is the norm of universal love.” –Mozi (Mo Tzu)

What does this have to do with the Declaration of Independence and Peace?

“The ruler who seeks the good for all the people will be loved in return. The benefit to the whole community will be peace and harmony.”

When the founders of the United States of America wrote the Declaration of Independence, they were rejecting the treatement they had been receiving from the King of England. According to Dr. David Hawkins’ logarithmic Consciousness Scale of zero to 1000, the Declaration of Independence calibrates at 705.

Upon analyzing the Declaration of Independence, “the core of the power becomes revealed as the spiritual truth upon which the document [is] based, i.e., the quality of all men arises by virtue of the divinity of their Creator and thus specifies that the rights of Americans do not stem from political ideologies or arbitrary government fiat; they do not depend on secular authority; and they are inalienable by virtue of their origin and basis.” –David Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D., Truth vs. Falsehood: How To Tell The Difference.

Here are a couple of lines from the Declaration of Independence:

“the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and
of Nature’s God entitle them . . . ”

“all men are created equal, that they are endowed by
their Creator with certain unalienable Rights . . . “
We who live in the United States of America are fortunate to live in the greatest country in the world.
Focus on peace within yourself, and it will radiate out to the rest of the world.
Thank you.

2007 Grammy Calibrations = What Are We Listening To?

Part 1 of a series

The ancient Chinese said that the consciousness of a culture is reflected in its music.

If that is true, then the consciousness of the United States population is reflected in the music that is being produced.

We are researching, testing, and calibrating music = of all genres.  We are doing this with major-label and independent artists, not only to feature here on this blog, but also as part of the database for our Conscious World Music membership site, which will launch later this year.
As part of our ongoing commitment, I think that it is important to research all of the different genres that have “supposedly” produced the “best” music in the past year.

Each year, the Grammy Awards are given to the “best” artists, producers, songwriters, engineers, mixers, etc.

This year, the 49th Annual Grammy Awards Nominee List was for recordings released during the Eligibility Year October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006.

What are we, as a United States consumer culture, producing and consuming?

In this series, we will be sharing the results of our Consciousness Calibration Resesarch for all 32 Fields (General Field, plus 31 specific fields) and 108 categories.

You can then make an informed decision as to what type of environmental field you choose to create around yourself with the music that you listen to.

You are welcome to share this information with your friends.  Actually, we encourage you to do so, and we welcome your comments and feedback.

Thank you for being here.

Bruce Hornsby and Consciousness Music

Bruce Hornsby is one of my all-time favorite artists. Last night I had the pleasure of seeing him live at a solo piano show in NYC, at the Society for Ethical Culture. What a cool venue! The room is a place for spiritual worship, and we sat comfortably in padded pews = with plenty of elbow and leg room.

The concert overall was great = and as a ethical bribe, we all received Bruce-?s new Box Set, -Intersections-?. It-?s a 4 CD/1 DVD collection of Bruce and the various incarnations of solo piano, guests artists, and bands.

It is truly a joy to see a musician -channeling-? the creative flow of the muse = which Bruce is able to do, whether in a band situation, or performing solo. The vehicle of solo piano, however, lends itself a bit better to complete and total -flow.-?

On the Hawkins-? Consciousness Scale, the concert overall calibrated at 421. Considering the overall consciousness of mankind is currently at 205 (as per Dr. Hawkins, as of August 2006), this performance benefits the entire population of humanity. To be specific, by Bruce being fully who he is, and expressing himself in this way, approximately 92% of the population of humanity was benefitted from this performance = by virtue of the power of the field of consciousness that was expressed.

How cool is that?

Some highlights of the concert last night, from a consciousness calibration perspective:

  • End of the Innocence > Danny Boy = 456 > 500.3 = I could really feel the energy shift.
  • Nobody There But Me = 500.1
  • The Way It Is = Intro, 489 > 500.1
  • Halcyon Days = 500.1
  • Standing on the Moon > Goldberg Variations = 377 > 500.1 = It-?s Bach! That should almost be expected.

It is really enjoyable to see and experience musicians who strive for excellence, and write and perform from a space of duty to themselves and others.

That-?s a great challenge to the musicians of the world.

Develop your talent = whatever it may be = writing, recording, mixing, performing, producing = to the absolute best of your ability. It-?s your duty to yourself and your fellow man.

Thank you for reading.

P.S. There are two great resource sites for Bruce Hornsby: Bruce-?s Home Page, and the Official Fan Site.

Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Spiritual Practice, and Consciousness Music

In David Tame’s book, Beethoven and the Spiritual Path, we learn that Beethoven was not the only composer who was writing to serve God and uplift humanity. “in the words of J.S. Bach, ‘The aim and final reason of all music should be nothing else but the glory of God and the refreshment of the spirit.’ Mozart held with the Masonic belief that the purpose of art was to promote peace, brotherhood, and harmony in all who experienced it, and devoted his music to this cause. And, to quote just one such line from Beethoven, on the score of his stupendous Missa Solemnis he wrote: ‘From the heart, may it reach other hearts.’” (pp.13-14)David Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D., in Eye of the I:From Which Nothing is Hidden, writes the following: “To endeavor to evolve spiritually is the greatest gift one can give. It actually uplifts all mankind from within. . .” “All society is subliminally and subtly influenced by every kind and loving thought, word, or deed.” “The universe notes and records every action and returns it in kind.” (p.204)
Because of the infinite power of The Field of God, “Every kindness is therefore forever”. (p. 204)
If you listen to music (and if you are a living person on this planet, you do), what are you listening to? Is it uplifting? Besides just making you feel good in the moment, is it assisting you in raising your consciousness? Is it helping you to evolve spiritually?
Musicians of the world, what are you writing about? Why are you writing music? What is your intention for writing and/or performing music?

Food for thought.

Spiritual Practice

“How would the world be different if, for example, all of us were to reclaim our inheritance as members in a ‘tribe of light’ who vow to bring enlightenment to all creation? If more and more people were to infuse the consciousness of light into their interactions — their intimate relationships, their work, and physical activities — the healing effect on others would be immeasurable.”

–Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, Awakening: A Sufi Experience
